Graphical, Boingy Reports

Graphic ReportsWe've added beautiful, moving graphic reports to your campaign stats that aren't just eye candy; they're actually useful and interactive. You can click on pie charts to reveal more data and jump to campaigns, zoom in on bar graphs to get a closer view, and drag your mouse to select date ranges.

We've also updated the "Reports" tab to include aggregate reports that you can track over the life of your MailChimp account. You'll get a bird's eye view of your list growth and open and click rates over time.

Dynamic Content With Smart *|MERGE|* Tags

We made merge tags smarter. A lot smarter. You can use *|TITLE:FNAME|* to capitalize the first letter of your FNAME merge field (to change sally or SALLY to "Sally"). Or you can go nuts with IF/THEN merge tags to insert dynamic content based on the recepient's data, or interest groups. For example, to include a special offer for people who like pizza and pies, you can do this:

*|INTERESTED:Pizza,Pie|*
This is a special 10% off discount for fans of pizza and pie!
*|END:INTERESTED|*

HTML Editor for Advanced Users

Advanced Code EditorEver paste your HTML email into the browser, then needed to make edits to your code? You used to have to copy-paste the code back into your favorite HTML editor, fix it, then paste it back into MailChimp again. You won't have to do that anymore. We've added a nifty browser-based HTML editor to MailChimp.

Search Subscribers

Member SearchEver needed to remove someone from a list, or find out if a friend or customer was subscribed to one of your lists? In the new MailChimp, you can search for members across all your managed lists (by name, email, whatever).

Chimp Chatter

We've added a new feature called "Chimp Chatter" to your MailChimp Dashboard. It's a little dialog box, where MailChimp talks to you. Think of this as your very own account executive or marketing manager (only it's free, and it's a monkey instead of a human). He tells you how many people opened that campaign you sent last week. He tells you if someone reported your campaign as junk. He'll tell you if your bounce rate is a little too high, and that maybe you should look into it. He'll even congratulate you if one of your campaigns does really well. Chimp Chatter's also available as an RSS feed so that you can add it to your Google home page or your favorite feed reader, and get updates on your campaign while you're away from the chimp.

Faster Loading, Ajaxy Interface

The new MailChimp interface uses AJAX and JavaScript and other nerdy stuff that help you get your work done "on the fly" instead of clicking submit buttons and waiting for pages to reload. The result is an interface that works less like a clunky web application, and more like a desktop application.


But Wait, There's More!

Here's a list of other changes that we think you're gonna like...

  • Skip Around - You're not forced into a linear campaign creation process anymore. Skip around from step to step, and save for later. When you return, the campaign will open wherever you left off.
  • Merge Tag Cheat Sheet - Did you forget your merge tag for "title"? Psst. There's a sliding cheat sheet available on all the campaign builder screens. Don't tell anyone, though.
  • All New Dashboard - The dashboard is now an actual dashboard. You get a birds eye view of your account, with graphs for list growth, your last campaign's performance, and the all new chimp chatter.
  • All New Campaigns Tab - We've moved your list of campaigns from the Dashboard to its very own page. This is to make room for a long list of new types of campaigns we'll be introducing in the near future.
  • All New Reports Tab - Go to the Reports page to see how all your campaigns are doing over time. Zoom in on the chart for selected time periods. Click to go to campaigns, and view stats.
  • All New Pre-Delivery Checklist - We've redesigned the layout of the Pre-Delivery Checklist, so that it's easier to read, spot problems, and act on them before you send your campaigns.
  • New Lists Page - If you managed a lot of lists, the "Lists" page was slow to load. Now, the page is much faster, and lets you get to your important stuff (signup form URL, add member, unsub member, etc) in one click, instead of navigating via multiple pages.
  • Safari Compatible - Mac users can now use Safari with our campaign builder.
  • Plain-Text Campaigns Preloaded with tags - When you create your plain-text campaign, we now preload your unsubscribe tags and contact information (yes, we'll soon pre-load your content too).
  • Revamped Infrastructure - We've improved the underlying architecture of MailChimp to make everything faster, more stable, and even more secure. As a result, you can expect some very powerful new reports and new ways to manipulate your data in upcoming releases.
  • Test Campaigns Work More Like Real Campaigns - In the past, test campaigns had some broken links and merge tags, and looked a little "broken." In the new MailChimp, we made significant changes that make test campaigns work a lot more like real campaigns.
