Pricing FAQ
How much does it cost?
The monthly subscription starts at $15 per month and is based on the size of the list you maintain. With the pay-as-you-go plan, costs start at 3 cents per email and go down to ½ cent per email for purchases of $1,000 or more.
Which plan is right for me?
If you have a large list and send emails once or more per month, the monthly program is the best option.
If you have a smaller list or send less than once per month, you should consider our pay as you go options.
How am I billed?
With the monthly plan your credit card on file will be billed each month based on the maximum size of your email list in the previous month. With the pay-as-you-go plan you can buy email credits with a credit card or by check.
Can I pay by check?
You can pay by check if you are using a pay-as-you-go option. Just download our Order Form (PDF)
I'm outside the US. Can you still take my credit card?
Of course! MailChimp has over 10,000 customers from all over the world. Your credit card should work just fine. The banks will do all the currency conversion for us.
Non-profit Discounts
MailChimp offers a 15% discount for any 501(c)(3) organization.
Do you have a high volume pricing plan?
Yes. Please contact us for additional information on our high volume pricing plan.
When does my trial end?
Your free trial ends 30 days from when you first signed up.
Are there any restrictions with the trial account?
The trial accounts are fully functional MailChimp email accounts. During the 30-day trial you can use an email list with up to 100 addresses and send out multiple campaigns. If during the trial period your list exceeds 100, you will be prompted to sign up for either the monthly program or the pay-as-you-go plan in order to send your campaign.
Are there any additional fees?
No. There is no setup fee for MailChimp. All MailChimp accounts come with free image hosting, free campaign reports, and free email templates. We do offer additional add-ons services like AIM tracking and Inbox Inspector. These services are provided at additional cost.
Do I have to commit for a long period
No. You can export your subscriber list(s) and close your account any time you want.
Do I have to sign a contract
No.
Do I pay even if I don't use MailChimp
With the monthly payment plan, your credit card will be charged each month based on your list size (even if you don't send anything that month). If you select the pay-as-you-go plan, you will be charged only when you send emails.
Can I switch plans?
Yes. If you select either the monthly plan or the pay-as-you-go plan, you can switch to the other plan. If you are in the monthly plan and switch to the pay-as-you-go plan, the change is instantaneous. When switching from the pay-as-you-go plan, we will first let you use up any remaining email credits in your account before setting the start date of your monthly plan.
Note - the monthly plan is only for those who are sending at least once every month. If you have some months throughout the year where you do not send, you would either need to keep the monthly billing during those times, or permanently switch to the pay as you go plan. We do not allow you to switch back and forth between the two plans.
How do I switch between plans?
Log in to your account and select the "Account" tab. Select "Price Plan". On this page you can select to move to either payment plan. If you are moving to the monthly plan, you will be asked to register a credit card that we can use for monthly billings.
What happens to my account if I don't pay
If your account is inactive due to non-payment, we will maintain all of your information for at least 90 days unless you specifically request that we cancel your account. You will be able to log on to our account and make any changes to your account, your list or your template at any time. The only restriction is that you will not be able to send a campaign until payment is made.
Can I add to my list while not paying?
Yes. You are free to use MailChimp's list building tools to create and grow your list even if you are not on a current payment plan.
