What's The Catch?

Why is this so much lower than some of the other ESPs out there? MailChimp is completely self-serve. If you're an experienced email marketer who is currently wondering, "Why am I spending so much money for strategy and consulting every month at my current ESP, when I can do this myself?" you're going to love MailChimp. If you're not so experienced, but you still want to try MailChimp, you may want to hire a MailChimp Expert, or try teaching yourself at the MailChimp Academy.

So Does That Mean MailChimp Has No Support?

That's not what we mean. We have a 5-star rated customer support team, and they're here to help you with any technical problems or questions. We've also got some awesome training videos, helpful Getting Started Webinars, and a lively community of MailChimp customers (The MailChimp Jungle). You can also find us on Twitter (@mailchimp) and Facebook.

Free, Robust, Open-access API (with support)

Most high volume senders use the MailChimp API in some way. Our dedicated API team works closely with the product team during every point release to keep everything in sync (and to help you keep your applications sync'd with MailChimp). If your programmers need support with the MailChimp API, we have a Google Discussion Group setup for them (warning: for nerds only).

No sales people, and no account executives.

When we say that "MailChimp is self-serve," we mean there are no sales, biz-dev people, or account executives at MailChimp who can do any of your work for you. You would be completely in charge of creative, tracking, sending, and strategy.

So if you’ve been sending email campaigns long enough to know right from wrong, you’ve already got more strategy than you can shake a stick at, and all you need is a rock solid infrastructure with great deliverability built by people who send gazjillions of emails a day (plus a features list that’s a mile long), then you should definitely give MailChimp a try.

Key Benefits & Features For High Volume Senders:

  • You'll get your own dedicated IP address, instead of sharing a range of IPs with thousands of other users
  • Our system will AUTOMATICALLY WARMUP your dedicated IP address for you. No need to manually segment your lists and spread your sending out across several months to "break in" your IP.
  • With a dedicated IP address, you can apply for whitelisting status at some ISPs, and for email reputation and certification services like Goodmail, SenderScore Certified, and SuretyMail
  • All major Email Authentication methods (DKIM, SenderID, etc) are built-in, with no server setup required on your part. You just check a box in MailChimp.
  • Pay-per-month instead of pay-per-email plans are available, which are more suited for high-volume senders (of course, the pay-per-email plans will still be available if you prefer them).
  • Free, open access MailChimp API
  • Integration with pretty much everything under the sun (MailChimp Plugins)
