A/B Split Testing

Stop Guessing What Your Subscribers Want. A/B Test!

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to run an A/B email experiment anymore. No need to setup randomized segments, send multiple campaigns, and constantly analyze piles of campaign data. We do it all for you. You just click our "A/B" button, specify a few criteria, and our patent-pending A/B tester handles the rest---automatically.

How A/B Testing Works

Let's say you want to test 2 different subject lines, to see if the word "free" gets more people to open your email. You simply enter subject line A and subject line B into MailChimp, then we send your campaign to two tiny "slices" of your email list. We'll check your stats to see which subject line wins, and then send your final campaign automatically, using the winning subject line.

Things You Can A/B Test

With MailChimp's A/B testing tool, you can always be optimizing your email marketing, with each and every campaign. For example, you can test:

  • Which of two subject lines gets more opens? Will the word "Free" help, or hurt? Are longer subject lines better than shorter ones?
  • Which day is best? Are weekdays better than weekends? Are some days better for opens, but others for clicks?
  • What time of day is best? Do people open in the morning, or evening? When do they click more?
  • What "From" name will people respond to most? Will they open if they see your company name, or do they prefer personal names from sales reps they know? Or should you use both?
