Features
Wondering how we compare to others?
MailChimp's a do-it-yourself email marketing tool, kind of like the other guys. Except we don't "dumb down" our features. We give you powerful email marketing features that big companies spend big money on, and we make them simple and affordable (and a little fun). That's why organizations of all shapes and sizes from all over the globe choose MailChimp, and it's why one reviewer called us, "the email marketing service for the Google generation."

When Should I Not Use MailChimp?
We hate to turn people away (because we really, really love money and all), but sometimes we just can't please all the people all the time. So we very often recommend other email service providers (ESPs) in certain situations. Here are some examples of when you probably should NOT choose MailChimp.
MailChimp is DIY, not full-service.
If you need full-service support, as in "I want someone to give me email marketing advice (and I don't want to read MailChimp's blog or free email marketing resources), design my emails, write my content, and offer consulting services" you need to find a full-service email service provider (ESP). Like, perhaps, Bronto, or eROI, or ExactTarget or SilverPOP. Or, you can just hire a MailChimp Expert to do everything for you.
You Can't "White Label" MailChimp.
If you want a 100% white label, re-brandable email service provider, that's not MailChimp. We've built MailChimp so that if you're a freelancer or designer, you can setup multiple lists for each of your clients, and then you manage everything on their behalf. You focus on your clients, we focus on building awesome features your clients want. In all honesty, we actually recommend that you setup completely separate MailChimp accounts for each of your clients, and charge them for setup, training, template design, etc. Because inevitably, you will want to---ahem---"set them free." There's even a super-powerful MailChimp API, where you can build your own private-label products that sync with MailChimp (and charge whatever you want for it). But some people still need a full white label solution. If so, you should definitely try CampaignMonitor, because that's their specialty.
MailChimp Has No "Call Centers"
If you're just starting out, and you have no idea what you're doing, and you want to be able to pick up the phone and have someone walk you through every single step of building a campaign, that's not MailChimp. We do provide free support via email and live chat, and we provide online video tutorials at the MailChimp Academy, and we do offer weekly online webinars. But if you'd feel more comfortable having someone there to hold your hand on the telephone, you may want to look into ConstantContact.. They've got all kinds of telephone operators who can help you get started, and they specialize in small businesses who are totally new to email marketing. Many of our customers start there, then "graduate" to MailChimp after they understand the basic principles, and want to take advantage of more powerful email marketing features.
We Don't Sell Lists.
If you're just getting started, and you really, really, really want to get the word out about your business, and you're super eager to purchase an email list and send unsolicited bulk email, you should not use MailChimp. Or any ESP for that matter. In fact, you should probably just unplug your computer right now, because purchasing email lists is a really bad thing.
