Yahoo Email Delivery Delays

February 21st, 2008 | by Ben

Some of our customers have noticed some delivery delays at Yahoo. We’re looking into it, but it does seem like it’s happening to everybody right now. Laura from Word to the Wise (aka the ISP Whisperer) has some explanation of the delays.

Update:
Yahoo! has posted an acknowledgment of the situation on their own blog.

Personally, I think one of their mail servers is down and the others are having trouble keeping up with the extra traffic.

I did a quick check using one of the excellent tools from DNSStuff.com and found that it couldn’t connect to one of the servers
“d.mx.mail.yahoo.com. - 216.39.53.2 [Could not connect: Could not receive data: Operation timed out.]”

I’m going to have to check my server logs now to see if I see the same thing.
