iContact hearts MailChimp?

June 3rd, 2008 | by Ben

Looks like iContact really loves the improvements we made in MailChimp v3.

After we launched, one of our customers searched for “MailChimp” in Google, and saw this ad from iContact (right column):

iContact-hearts-mailchimp

I can only guess that someone at iContact took one look at our new features list, and said, “Wow. Someone finally got it right! Let’s run an ad to congratulate MailChimp! ”

Thanks, guys! We think we got it right, too. But you got our URL wrong. You accidentally pointed it to your own home page, not ours. I’m sure it’s just a goof up by your SEM agency. Sometimes managing all those keywords can get really confusing.

Still though, it’s nice to be recognized by our industry peers as being the right choice.

We heart you too, guys!

      Ben –

      Hi DJ,
Yes, the love — but with boundaries and safety words — is mutual here. In all sincerity, we met some iContact folks at the MediaPost event, and they were good people. Methinks their SEM agency simply ran out of keyword ideas.

I love this as well, not MailChimp or iContact persay but how people by one another’s keywords. Funny thing is I can share some ads Bronto ran some time ago to that affect…. and we did as well with words like “Exact Target” – Exactly Missing Your Target with your email marketing solution? You might want to look at eroi.com…” fun times. It was short lived but fun none the less.

Who knows iContact might have a man crush on you guys. Look for flowers next.

    • Ben says:

@Dylan – “Exactly missing your target.” Ha. For the longest time, our home page said, “Email a Constant Headache?” All in good fun.

Re: man-crushes, I may need to have our lawyer craft a “We just want to be friends” letter.

Yes, we do in fact love you! Will change link soon. In the meantime, how about chinese friday night? Pick you up at 8?

You guys know MailChimp is married, right? FeMailChimp is not very happy with all this flirty chatroom talk.

    • Ben says:

Thanks for explaining everything on the Techinnoventure blog. We figured it was some kind of Adwords randomizer mistake. And um, you can just disregard any trademark-related letters you may be getting in the mail soon. :-)
