Eventbrite integration with MailChimp

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

eventbrite-logoEver since we launched MailChimp in 2001, our customers have been asking us to build an events management tool for MailChimp.

Thing is, we’d rather focus on what we do best: making email marketing awesome. “Events” is not our specialty, so we felt we’d never be able to make it awesome enough.

Then we discovered Eventbrite, which is the best events management tool we’ve ever used. And it just so happens they also have an API.

So we’re really excited to announce that MailChimp is partnered with Eventbrite, and our services are seamlessly integrated. Build events in eventbrite, then design & deliver awesome invitations in MailChimp (and so much more).

Here’s how the integration works…

Subject Line Suggester from MailChimp

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

thm-subject-line-suggesterThe nerds in MailChimp Labs just unveiled a new experiment called the Subject Line Suggester. It’s kind of like Google’s Keyword Tool, but for email marketing. It’s a free feature for all MailChimp users.

You basically enter some words or phrases that you were planning to use in your subject line, then MailChimp will compare it to all subject lines ever used in our system, their resulting open rates, and then tell you how they performed.

For example, let’s say you want to send a holiday campaign, with the subject line “Holiday Gift Ideas:”

Hmm, maybe you’d like MailChimp to suggest other words or phrases…

Zendesk, Zoho, Javelin, and more integrations

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

We launched MailChimp v4.3.2 last night, and are excited to announce that our list of integrations has grown (gasp, there’s a third row of logos now!):

import-universe

Zendesk is an awesome help desk app, which is also part of the Small Business Web (so you can further integrate with Batchbook, Freshbooks, and more wonderful apps in the network).

Ever since we posted about our integration with Salesforce, people have been asking for Zoho, Javelin, and other CRM integrations as well. We can only integrate so fast, so it helps when other companies actually take the first step and integrate with us (our API documentation is pretty thorough). Batchbook did this, and it helped kickstart a wonderful relationship. Hint hint. Anyway, Javelin integrated with us a while back all on their own, and it impressed us. So we looked at their API and integrated right back at them. I hear they’re working on more.

Another popular request is SugarCRM, and we hear that a company is actually working on this. They’ve formed a group in the MailChimp Jungle for SugarCRM + MailChimp users. If you’re interested, you might want to give them some feedback, wishlist requests, etc.

There are a couple more exciting integrations in that screenshot, but we’ll post more details on those a little later.

New Twitter email template in MailChimp

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

twitter-loveMailChimp’s list of built-in social media features just keeps growing.

Today, we launched a new twitter email template. The twitter template is perfect for social media power users (um, no “social media d-bags,” please) who want their emails to follow their twitter “identity.”

Here’s how it works:

Thumbnail Previews of Templates

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

In our recent v4.3 upgrade, we started to replace all these little template thumbnails in the app:

old-teeny-tiny-thumbnails

with actual screenshots of your templates:

teeny-tiny-thumbnails-of-templates1

It’s a minor change, but it makes a major difference. Note that we’re not cropping them, so if you have an extreeeeemely long template, you’ll get an extreeemely long thumbnail. It’s something we’re still tinkering with, and could use some feedback on. Read more if you’re interested in how we’re doing this…

Google Analytics Stats Inside MailChimp

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

site-analytics360A little while ago, Google called us on the phone.

You’d think that seeing “Google, Mountain View” on your caller ID would make us pretty excited. But the truth is, it’s more of a frightening experience (along the lines of, “Oh God did we break the internet?).

Turns out it wasn’t so bad…

New Way to Connect MailChimp to Twitter

Monday, August 17th, 2009

After we launched our first Twitter integration, someone invented oauth, which is a nicer way to to make the connection between MailChimp and Twitter (instead of entering your twitter usernames and passwords into the MailChimp app). So we’ve switched to that method. You’ll notice a new twitter button on the Campaign Setup page:

connect-to-twitter

One nice after-effect of this change is that after making the Twitter connection, we can automatically tweet your campaign archive link for you from scheduled campaigns or A/B split campaigns.

Speaking of twitter, ever wish you could track how many times your email campaign tweets have been re-tweeted?

New Email Template Gallery

Monday, August 17th, 2009

Whenever you create a new campaign in MailChimp, you’ll notice something new under the “My Templates” tab. We’ve added an email template gallery with 8 pre-built HTML email templates for different occasions (coupons, sales, events, newsletters, etc):

There are a couple nice little features in these templates we think you’ll like…

New HTML Email Template language in MailChimp v4.3

Friday, August 14th, 2009

thm_code-custom-templatesThis weekend, we’re launching MailChimp v4.3. There will be lots of hidden awesomeness, but the major new feature that our customers will notice right away is the ability to upload your own HTML email code, then save it as an editable template inside our app. This is a great feature for web designers who want to upload a template for a client, and create editable (even repeatable) sections within the content area (without letting clients uglify the rest of your design).

We’ll post more details and documentation after everything is live this Monday (August 17), but here’s a sneak peek…
