Eventbrite integration with MailChimp

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

eventbrite-logoEver since we launched MailChimp in 2001, our customers have been asking us to build an events management tool for MailChimp.

Thing is, we’d rather focus on what we do best: making email marketing awesome. “Events” is not our specialty, so we felt we’d never be able to make it awesome enough.

Then we discovered Eventbrite, which is the best events management tool we’ve ever used. And it just so happens they also have an API.

So we’re really excited to announce that MailChimp is partnered with Eventbrite, and our services are seamlessly integrated. Build events in eventbrite, then design & deliver awesome invitations in MailChimp (and so much more).

Here’s how the integration works…

Zendesk, Zoho, Javelin, and more integrations

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

We launched MailChimp v4.3.2 last night, and are excited to announce that our list of integrations has grown (gasp, there’s a third row of logos now!):

import-universe

Zendesk is an awesome help desk app, which is also part of the Small Business Web (so you can further integrate with Batchbook, Freshbooks, and more wonderful apps in the network).

Ever since we posted about our integration with Salesforce, people have been asking for Zoho, Javelin, and other CRM integrations as well. We can only integrate so fast, so it helps when other companies actually take the first step and integrate with us (our API documentation is pretty thorough). Batchbook did this, and it helped kickstart a wonderful relationship. Hint hint. Anyway, Javelin integrated with us a while back all on their own, and it impressed us. So we looked at their API and integrated right back at them. I hear they’re working on more.

Another popular request is SugarCRM, and we hear that a company is actually working on this. They’ve formed a group in the MailChimp Jungle for SugarCRM + MailChimp users. If you’re interested, you might want to give them some feedback, wishlist requests, etc.

There are a couple more exciting integrations in that screenshot, but we’ll post more details on those a little later.

Google Analytics Stats Inside MailChimp

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

site-analytics360A little while ago, Google called us on the phone.

You’d think that seeing “Google, Mountain View” on your caller ID would make us pretty excited. But the truth is, it’s more of a frightening experience (along the lines of, “Oh God did we break the internet?).

Turns out it wasn’t so bad…

Major Upgrades to MailChimp API, too

Monday, August 17th, 2009

mailchimp-api-logoOne thing we’ve invested heavily in at MailChimp is our API. We try extremely hard to keep it updated as frequently as “MailChimp proper,” and to keep it open and well-documented (mailchimp.com/api/rtfm). It’s one reason there are so many integrations and plugins out there for the chimp.

In the recent v4.3 upgrade, the API was upgraded to v1.2.2. We added full support for creating autoresponders and grabbing their stats via the API. Also added full support for the content importing options found in the app (import via URL, via ZIP, etc) and a slew of other stuff I’m not even going to pretend to understand (hey, APIs are for geeks only). More details, and a link to the changelog, can be found in our API Google Group.

Formspring Integration with MailChimp

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

formspring-logoI really like Formspring. Not just because they sent us a cake today. But because they just announced a very slick integration with MailChimp (and we didn’t have to lift a finger—they did all the work, using our API).

Just in case you don’t already know, Formspring is a tool that makes it extremely easy to build an online form or survey to collect data. But these forms also come with power features, like self-calculating form fields, conditional logic, and smart-routing. The other nice thing is that Formspring, like MailChimp, also integrates with Highrise and Freshbooks (see all our other integrations here), so that tracking your clients, collecting payments, and sending newsletters is all a piece of cake.

Sweet, sweet googly-moogly chocolate cake.

Here’s a video tutorial from Formspring:

* Note: their opt-in check box to confirm subscription is a really, really nice feature. Very well done.

MailChimp Integrations Dashboard

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

MailChimp integrates with a ton of applications, like Batchbook, Magento, Salesforce, Drupal, Wordpress, Freshbooks, Paypal, Wufoo and more (there’s an ever-growing at mailchimp.com/extras).

There are so many now, that managing your different integrations can be tough. So we created this new “Integrations Dashboard” under your Account page.

It’s a great birds-eye-view of all the apps you’ve linked to MailChimp, and what their status is. If you’re experiencing any issues sync’ing data with one of them, this is where you can go to diagnose.

Introducing a New Expression Engine/MailChimp Integration

Monday, June 1st, 2009

eeWe are big fans of the popular content management system Expression Engine, which makes building and maintaining websites a breeze. We like it so much we actually use it to manage this website. Expression Engine has an open architecture that facilities development of custom plugins and extensions, so you can easily add new tools, features, or tie into your favorite APIs elsewhere.

Shopify Plugin for MailChimp

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

logo_shopify

Dialect, a small web marketing company on Vancouver Island in Canada, has developed a plugin that connects your Shopify online store with MailChimp.

It works by allowing you to process a Webhook from Shopify and subscribe the purchaser to a specific MailChimp list. In a nutshell, Webhooks enable you to collect information about events as they happen in near real-time. (read more about the MailChimp API and Webhooks here)

You can grab the plugin and installation instructions here. Then, all you need to get started is your Shopify Shop ID and MailChimp List ID.

Use another ecommerce or shopping cart solution? MailChimp also currently intergrates with Magento, osCommerce, PrestaShop, Foxy Cart and ZenCart. Be sure to take a look at our extensive list of plugins for more info.

Magento signup plugin for MailChimp

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

magento-logoThe folks at ebizmarts have created a Magento plugin that synchronizes with your MailChimp list. It’s currently in beta, and can be found here on  MagentoConnect. Here’s what it does:

Once setup, the module will keep your Magento Newsletter subscribers automatically synchronized with MailChimp.

If you’re a Magento user, be sure to also check out our ecommerce360 plugin, which synchronizes with your shopping cart and shows your email marketing ROI.

Google Analytics API Integration with MailChimp

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

analytics-screenshot2For the last few months, Google has been working on an API for Analytics (woo-hoo!) and MailChimp was fortunate enough to be invited to work with it in private beta. We’ve installed it for a handful of our customers’ accounts to test everything. It’s absolutely brilliant.

It’s basically a direct connection into your Google Analytics account, and it allows you to setup email marketing tracking for multiple websites. This dramatically improves the accuracy of the Analytics360 plugin tracking that is currently available in MailChimp, and we’re very excited about this. It will be available for free to all MailChimp accounts when we launch v4.1.1 in the next couple weeks. If you’re an eRetailer that uses Google Analytics, be sure to check this out, along with MailChimp’s other amazing reports.
